چکیده

We investigate antiplane Stoneley waves, localized at the discontinuity surface between two perfectly bonded half-spaces. Both half-spaces are elastic linear isotropic and possess a microstructure that is described within theory of couple stress materials with micro-inertia. show deeply affects wave propagation, which permitted under broad conditions. This outcome stands in marked contrast to classical elasticity, where waves not supported in-plane exist only very severe conditions on material properties Besides, may propagate beyond threshold frequency (cuton), for an explicit expression provided. For given above cuton, this lends admissible range parameters allows propagation (passband). In particular, significant adjoining possible, provided high enough frequency. Therefore, micro-inertia plays important role determining features propagation. Considerations concerning existence uniqueness given: it found evanescent decaying/exploding modes also admitted. Results be especially useful when accounting non-destructive testing (NDT) seismic

Interface waves in almost incompressible elastic materials

We study the problem of two elastic half-planes in contact and the Stoneley interface wave that may exist at the interface between two different elastic materials, emphasis is put on the case when the half-planes are almost incompressible. We show that numerical simulations involving interface waves requires an unexpectedly high number of grid points per wavelength as the materials become more ...

Antiplane surface acoustic waves propagating in elastic half-space coated with an anisotropic laminate

Dispersion relation of antiplane surface acoustic waves (SAWs) propagating in elastic half-space coated with an anisotropic laminate was determined explicitly by means of Stroh’s formalism within the subsonic range, where there is no energy leakage into the substrate. During the procedure, the governing dynamic equation in each anisotropic layer and the displacement–traction continuity at inter...

Propagation of Waves at an Interface of Heat Conducting Elastic Solid and Micropolar Fluid Media

The present investigation is concerned with the reflection and transmission coefficients of plane waves at the interface of generalized thermoelastic solid half space and heat conducting micropolar fluid half- space. The amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves with various angle of incidence have been computed numerically and depicted graphically. Micropolarity and thermal r...

Employing pre-stress to generate finite cloaks for antiplane elastic waves

It is shown that nonlinear elastic pre-stress of neo-Hookean hyperelastic materials can be used as a mechanism to generate finite cloaks and thus render objects near-invisible to incoming antiplane elastic waves. This approach appears to negate the requirement for special cloaking metamaterials with inhomogeneous and anisotropic material properties in this case. These properties are induced nat...

Shear Waves Through Non Planar Interface Between Anisotropic Inhomogeneous and Visco-Elastic Half-Spaces

A problem of reflection and transmission of a plane shear wave incident at a corrugated interface between transversely isotropic inhomogeneous and visco-elastic half-spaces is investigated. Applying appropriate boundary conditions and using Rayleigh’s method of approximation expressions for reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained for the first and second order approximation of the...
